I have a 2013 WRX special edition (0nly 200 made). The ones I've found for sale around the country are either at or above the price I paid for mine originally. I knew Subarus held their value well, but damn.

Kinja'd!!!

One for 28K

One for 30K

Another for 30K

A third for 30K

One for 33K

They only made 200, these 5 for sale make up 2.5% of the total production run and are pretty much the only ones for sale out there. Most of these have more miles than mine. Thoughts? Opinions? Am I insane?

Lol a 2013 performance car with a 5-speed, what is this the 80s?

Also I hate how WRXs/STis hold their value, because I can't own one.

No, you're not insane, you're just currently blessed with a very slow depreciation curve and that you got a good deal on it when you bought it. Unfortunately that curve will begin to get steeper, even on a limited edition WRX, mostly due to the fact that it's a WRX and WRX drivers aren't exactly well known for babying their cars and obeying all posted speed limits/local traffic laws 24/7, and God help you if you modify it in any way. Seriously though, all that the low depreciation after 2 years means is that you can get out now and break even or minimize your loss and move on, and I don't think that's on your mind since you still seem passionate about the car. Even if 2 years from now the value has plummeted your enjoyment of the car during those 2 years doesn't retroactively plummet.

Sometime after I turned 30 I just started to expect that any car I bought would depreciate 50% the second I drove off the lot and would go down from there, that way if I get %30+ of it back 4 or 5 years later when I buy something new I'm pleasantly surprised. If any car I've bought or will buy in the future becomes an ultra rare investment it sure as hell won't be me seeing the return, it'll either be my son/future grandson or more likely the guy who pulls it out of a storage garage.
